Nestling high up in the heart of Derbyshire overlooking the famous Derwent Valley and open almost throughout the year, Crich Tramway Village is a lovingly restored period village that is also home to the National Tramway Museum and its world renowned archives.

You may have a keen interest in trams, transport or history or may just be looking for a unique place to visit, whatever your interest there is lots to see, explore and discover. Trams run to and fro every few minutes as visitors ride over the cobbles of our period street, past the original facades of historic buildings from the around the country before heading up the valley to views that will take your breath away. Hand over the old penny you are given on entry and you are free to ride the trams all day.

Plenty for all to do - whatever the weather
The exhibition hall brings to life the history of the tram and includes a recreation of the 1905 Tramways Exhibition, whilst the Workshop Viewing Gallery allows visitors to see for themselves the ongoing restoration and repair work that is carried out each day. Our indoor "Discovery Depot" and outdoor Adventure Playground are the perfect place for children to let off steam and the Woodland Walk provides ample opportunity to stretch your legs especially if you have brought the dog with you.

Should you need a rest The Red Lion or Village Tea Rooms both offer refreshments and The Forge and The Emporium shops sell a wide range of gifts, toys, confectionary and books.

Welcoming all
Due to our period setting there are lots of cobbles around the village, which is why the "Wheelway" has been created to give smoother access around the site for wheelchairs and pushchairs. To ensure no-one misses the chance to take a tram ride, Berlin tram no' 3006 has been adapted to take wheelchairs. Don't forget that we gladly welcome four legged family members. We welcome dogs and as our car park gets the sun all day we would much rather you brought your dog in with you, but please do keep them on a lead and clear up any mess they make.
