Peak District Holidays

Peak District Holidays are an experience to treasure, so special that you will want to return time and time again.
We have dramatic scenery patiently waiting to be captured on your cameras, which has taken millions of years to be formed into the breathtakingly beautiful rolling hills of the White Peak, the tranquil and serene Derbyshire Dales or the rugged moorland pinnacle known as the Dark Peak which can be foreboding and fearsome in bad weather or heaven on earth when the sun is shining. Down the eastern flank of the Peak District is an impressive backbone of glacial Edges fringed with footpaths.
So what are you looking for in your Peak District Holiday?

Are you a thrill seeker with a thirst for adventure and an adrenalin kick? Then your Peak District Holiday could include rock climbing, gliding, off road buggy mania or mountain biking. There are also boating, sailing and water sports available – not bad for a land-locked county!
Maybe you prefer culture and the arts and would like your Peak District Holiday to include an Arts Festival, theatre visit or a tour of our fascinating and varied museums? Better than that though, Derbyshire oozes history, has countless curiosities and enjoys showing them off with guided tours, walks and exhibitions available throughout the county. We have the best stately homes in the country with Chatsworth being the jewel in the crown and Haddon Hall a romantic treasure. Majestic Bolsover Castle has a fascinating story to tell whilst Hardwick Hall is a glacial palace.

Rain trickling down from the high hills of the Peak District gathers force and forms rivers which flow through verdant valleys before joining forces and heading for the sea. The river Lathkill is said to be one of the clearest waters in the country and parts of Lathkill Dale are now a protected Nature Reserve, where you can follow woodland paths and see the fascinating remains of lead mining which centuries ago brought wealth and prosperity as well as employment to Derbyshire’s inhabitants.
For hundreds of years, the rivers of Derbyshire were exploited for their power with mills springing up wherever there was enough force to turn a waterwheel. Many of the small mills have become derelict shells or totally disappeared, but there were also large mill buildings, some of which have now been converted into luxury flats and apartments or protected and preserved as visitor centres.
Families look for a Peak District Holiday which will keep the kids amused and tire them out by bedtime, so for them we have attractions including theme parks, miles of cycle trails, leisure centres and walks. We also have rare breed farms packed with cute and cuddly creatures, animal sanctuaries and riding schools.
So where will you stay for your Peak District Holiday? From a bunk house to a luxury hotel, a tent to a farm cottage, your Peak District Holiday accommodation can be varied and versatile to suit your budget and needs. Even your pets are given the chance to enjoy a Peak District Holiday adventure with many cottages and guest houses being prepared to cater for dogs, cats and even your caged little treasures!
So how do you go about planning your Peak District Holiday? You simply visit www.peakdistrictonline.co.uk which is packed with ideas, suggestions, useful information and contact details to help you. It will also tell you about special events, deals and discounts. All you need to know at the touch of a button and the wriggle of a mouse!
