Hotels In Bakewell

Bakewell is the Capital of the Peak, and home to the Peak District National Park Authority. With easy access to all parts of Derbyshire, it has been a popular market town for centuries, drawing in travellers, tradesmen and visitors. Little wonder then that there are several hotels in Bakewell from which to choose.
In the heart of the town are the former coaching inns and public houses which also offer accommodation, but there are other hotels in Bakewell such as the spacious Edwardian Guest Houses which overlook the local park with its riverside frontage and cricket pitch, not to mention the childrens play area that can keep little tots happy and amused.
Bakewell has several crossing places over the River Wye which meanders through the valley en route to Haddon Hall. At Lumford is an ancient packhorse bridge and sheep wash, whilst modern day traffic still uses the central bridge that dates back to the 1300s and has surely stood the test of time.
A couple of the hotels in Bakewell take their names from connections with nearby Haddon Hall (a magnificent medieval manor house), such as The Rutland Arms , the Manners Hotel and The Peacock Inn this bird is depicted on the family coat of arms. There is still a Queens Arms but the Kings Arms and Royal Oak disappeared in the last century, as did a couple of other hotels in Bakewell.
To stay at a hotel in Bakewell puts you on the doorstep to not only a wide selection of individual and high quality shops, but on a Monday the town holds its weekly open air market where you can haggle for bargains or buy lovely fresh produce.
The town has a rich assortment of tea rooms, coffee shops, restaurants and wine bars.
It was at a former hotel in Bakewell that the famous Bakewell Pudding was created evidently a mistake when the cook missed out a vital ingredient, which a couple of centuries later would still be popular and put Bakewell well and truly on the worldwide map! The White Horse Inn was a tavern and posting house in the 18th century before being almost entirely demolished in 1804 and replaced by The Rutland Arms .
Hotels in Bakewell compete to offer visitors to the town comfortable accommodation and mouth-watering meals at affordable prices, with a warm welcome on your arrival and a hearty breakfast to set you up for a day of exploring.
After tempting you to stay in this picturesque and popular little town, you simply read through the advertisements for hotels in Bakewell listed on the site to decide which is going to be your choice.
