Hotels In Derby


Derventio was a Roman Fort established on the banks of the River Derwent following the Roman invasion in AD43, which was later given the name Derby by the Danes in AD874. Little wonder then that Derby has a long story to tell!
Countless thousands of people stay at hotels in Derby every year for a variety of reasons. In 1745 Bonnie Prince Charlie rode into town and stayed for 2 days, although I doubt if his stay was in a hotel in Derby! In 1907 the town became home to Rolls Royce, producing cars and aircraft, and in 1890 the locally produced porcelain was given the Royal warrant by Queen Victoria and could now call itself Royal Crown Derby. Derby did not actually attain its City status until 1977.

Hotels in Derby are also conveniently located near to the start of the Derwent Valley Heritage Way which is a long trail following the River Derwent right up to its source at Derwent Reservoir in the Peak District .
