Prior to the 2011 Season getting underway the Darley Moor Motorcycle Road Race Club held their
Championship Awards Night at the Best Western Hotel, Stoke on Trent on 4th February 2011.
All of the 2010 Champions were presented with their respective Trophy’s, Prize Fund cheques and
everybody’s efforts throughout the 2010 season were celebrated.
During the evening’s entertainment an auction and raffle were organised in aid of the Auto Cycle Union (ACU) Benevolent Fund. The HM Plant Honda Team kindly donated signed Team clothing and a 20” x 24” signed photograph of Josh Brookes in action at Darley Moor for the auction, helping to raise an incredible £1,000 for the Fund.
The cheque was presented to the ACU Benevolent Fund at Round 1 of the Darley Moor Championship held on 20th March 2011.
ACU Benevolent Fund Chairman, Roy Hanks said “This was an excellent effort by Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club and shows that despite the very competitive nature of every motorcycle champion these racers do take the time to consider others.”
The Benevolent Fund is a registered charity, established in 1951 to provide help for ACU Members and their families in times of extreme difficulties. The Fund is not a form of insurance, but there to give help in times of hardship. It is funded purely by donations, charity events and from the sale of Isle of Man TT badges.
