Derbyshire’s players and coaching staff are departing for Barbados early Wednesday morning where they will step up their pre-season preparations.
Academy left-arm spinner Tom Knight, 17, has been included in the touring party for the trip which will begin with a two day Twenty20 tournament during the forthcoming weekend.
John Morris’s side face Essex at the quarter-final stage of the eight team tournament at the Kensington Oval on Saturday.
If the Falcons are victorious they will qualify for the Finals Day of the Twenty20 competition at the same venue on the following day. Fixtures between the opening day’s losing four will take place at alternative venues.
Derbyshire County Cricket Club is teaming up with Derby Telegraph to provide news from each day of the Club’s tour of Barbados.
Purchase the newspaper for a dedicated page of coverage each day and visit derbyshireccc.com for regular updates and tour news.
The tour has been made possible by a kind donation from Committee Member Chris Grant who has financed more than half of the trip out of his own pocket.
Derbyshire are one of five counties involved in the tour alongside Yorkshire, Hampshire, Essex and Warwickshire.
