Peak District Online Would Like To Welcome Derbyshire Wildlife Trust on Protecting Wildlife for the Future

Derbyshire Wildlife Trust is part of a national network of 47 local trusts working to protect wildlife. We aim to raise awareness of potential threats to wildlife and encourage individuals and organisations to take responsibility for caring for their local environment.

Derbyshire Wildlife Trust:

Manages 37 nature reserves throughout the county, covering more than 1000 acres of land including woodland, wetland and meadow areas.
Runs an extensive environmental education programme for schools.

Has more than 10,000 members, seven active local groups and six Wildlife Watch groups (for younger members).
Involves volunteers in a range of projects, from conservation work to fundraising.
Produces a range of publications, from fact sheets and leaflets to books on wildlife gardening and a Reserves Handbook.

Supports local members' groups - the lifeblood of the Trust - running meetings, talks, walks and fundraising and promotional events.
