Doveridge

Doveridge is a village and civil parish in Derbyshire near the border of Staffordshire and about 2 km east of Uttoxeter. It was recorded in the Domesday book and according to legend, Robin Hood and maid Marian were married under the old yew tree in the churchyard in St Cuthberts church in the village. The church is over 900 years old and has an historic peal of bells.

It has a pub called the Cavendish Arms, a village shop and a working men's club and it also has its own football team and a cricket team, both quite successful in their local leagues. Its name comes from a bridge over the River Dove, a tributary of the River Trent.
