Holymoorside

Holyoorside is framed by the purple moorlands and the Peak District and is a few minutes drive from Chesterfield. 100 years ago this very peaceful village was very different, a hive of industry with farmers,  lead miners, quarryman and traders, including smelt makers, traders and a taxidermist thrived here.

The cupola on Stone Age is Britain's oldest freestanding chimney built in 1770, it is proof that lead production was carried on in Holymoorside. The village school was built in 1874 at the expense of the mill owners but has since been replaced by a new primary school on a new site.

Today Holymoorside has three churches and two pubs and there are a number of pretty walks through woodlands, over feels all the Hill to Stone Edge
