Buxton Festival and Buxton Opera House have teamed up to launch a new lunchtime choir for adults this autumn. The new Kaleidoscope Lunchtime Choir is for beginners and more experienced singers and offers a great chance join a group and sing a wide range of songs, including familiar favourites. The choir, which will be led by ‘Local Vocals’ teacher Carol Bowns, will meet every other Tuesday in the Pavilion Arts Centre from 1pm to 2pm. Each session costs £3.50, payable at the Opera House Box Office or on the door on arrival at the Pavilion Arts Centre.
The Choir’s first meeting is on Tuesday 17 September, followed by sessions on 1, 15 and 29 October,
12 and 26 November and 10 December.
Carol Bowns commented “I am looking forward to the opportunity to run a choir which encourages everyone to sing. With a worldwide choice songs we can explore different languages, styles and traditions. So do come and find how easy it is to sing your heart out and create harmonies with songs as varied as an African Lullaby, a round from the Caribbean, a favourite pop song from the Sixties and maybe some Gospel and even a touch of Classical.”
Claire Barlow from Buxton Festival comments: “This choir is for anyone who’s ever watched those TV programmes where workers or wives come together to form a choir and thought – ‘I’d love to give that a go’. This will be a fun way to spend your lunch break with other people who love to sing. You don’t have to be an experienced singer, you just need to come along and give it a go!”
