    Little Larsas Retreat is situated in a beautiful and ideal location for visiting the many attractions the Peak District has to offer. CHATSWORTH HOUSE is only a fifteen minute drive away and Alton Towers is within good driving distance. Walkers can enjoy all levels of walks; along trails, across peaks and dales or even over rugged moorland. The adventurous are spoilt for choice; ballooning, rock climbing and canoeing are to name but a few, whilst families can adventure down caves, view the scenery from high above in a cable car or even zip wire through the tree tops! If that all sounds like too much, we have many quaint villages, farmers markets and antique shops to wander around and there’s always the option to just simply sit back on the terrace with a glass of wine and a good book and enjoy the far reaching views of the valley and beyond.


    Little Larsas Retreat is full of Modern Vintage Style. Vintage finds sit along cherry picked pieces making a fun, fresh and relaxed interior. The property includes plenty of original features; cornices, ceiling roses and sash windows, which are all complimented with cheery English Heritage fabrics and wallpapers. The combined effect is stylish, homely and welcoming.


    UPON YOUR ARRIVAL you will be welcomed with afternoon tea. Enjoy homemade scones and strawberry jam preserve, all topped with delicious local dairy clotted cream". You'll also be welcomed with fresh flowers, soft music and cosily lit rooms, ensuring you will instantly feel at home. You will find your beds beautifully dressed with freshly laundered, pure Egyptian cotton and each guest will find a homemade gift in their room to welcome them.


    THE KITCHEN… is fully equipped and comprises of a gas hob with overhead fan, electric oven and microwave. We have provided you with plenty of cupboard ingredients; coffee & tea (including Earl Grey and Darjeeling), salt, pepper, olive oil, sunflowers oil, red, white and malt vinegars and a good selection of herbs. You are also provided with washing up liquid, cloths, cleaning products, bin liners, Cling Film and Tin Foil. 

    THE LOUNGE…is open plan with the kitchen. The ceilings are high and finished with original Victorian detail. The room is painted in a delicate blue heritage paint which enhances the rooms’ features. A large bay, south facing window and a second east facing window provide an abundance of natural light. Views of the valley can be enjoyed through the bay. Two cushion filled sofas benefit from washable covers that are regularly laundered. 

    There is *SKY TV, a CD & DVD and a large selection of DVD films for you to watch, plus tourist information, local history books, maps, and games.

    THE BEDROOMS…are beautifully styled to feel romantic and inviting. To welcome you to your room there is homemade gift for each guest. The main bedroom benefits from a memory foam mattress topper, Hungarian Goose Down pillows and 400 count Egyptian Cotton bedding. There is also a choice of different weight duvets and pillows to suit your preference if required. There is plenty of storage with a double wardrobe. Coffee making facilities, alarm clock, hairdryer, Iron and board are provided for your convenience.

    THE BATHROOM…is newly installed and comprises of clean white suite, overhead power shower and fully tiled surfaces. There are plenty of soft white towels to use and toilet paper, cleansing hand gel and scented bath cream are provided.

    THE TERRACE…is south facing with far reaching views which include High Torr, and Riber Castle. It is enclosed and includes table, chairs and a BBQ.

    PARKING…There is private off-street parking for 2 cars.


    The Area

    Local pub and Matlock…Within a short walking distance is the dog friendly, country pub where you will receive a warm welcome from the staff and locals alike. There is a large beer garden to enjoy and home cooked food is served. Matlock is only a fifteen minute walk where you with find all usual amenities and plenty of bars and restaurants including; Italian, Indian and Thai. You will find a lovely park too located next to the Derwent River with plenty of facilities including; flower garden, Wi-Fi, coffee shop, tennis courts, mini golf, a skate board deck, children's playground with pool and train and boat rides for the kids.


    The Heart of England/Peak District/Derbyshire Region…The scenery around Matlock is magnificent. Originally a hamlet with one of only a few crossing points along the length of the River Derwent which carves its way through a ridge of limestone just south of Matlock in order to reach the lower ground to the South. This part of the valley is spectacular, steep-sided, winding and wooded, with high cliffs such as High Tor towering above attracting many rock-climbers, walkers, fishermen and bird-watchers. Some of this dale is a National Nature Reserve representing some of the best examples of wildlife habitat and geology in the White Peak area of Derbyshire being renowned for its range of rare flowers, otters and buzzards. The area is perfect to explore on foot or cycle. The Peak District is a walker's paradise. We are extremely fortunate to live in one of the many beautiful parts and within a stones throw are stunning walks by the river.


    Attractions...Within an easy drive are Matlock Bath, Chatsworth Stately Home, Haddon Hall, Bakewell (including Granby Arcade and Bakewell Old House Museum), Gulliver's Kingdom, Alton Towers, Masson Mill, Castleton Caves, Peak Rail, Youlgreave and the Spa town of Buxton, along with the whole of The Peak District National Park on your doorstep.
