Description: Saffron Studio is home to Hazel Money’s landscape paintings, lino prints, etchings and art tuition.
Drop in to see work being created on the easel or printing press, or have a go yourself at one of the workshops on offer. Located in the pretty village of Eyam, Saffron Studio sits in a sunny corner of Eyam Hall Craft Centre, and all the work on display is for sale, including a selection of local landscape paintings, lino prints, etchings and watercolours.
Commissions Hazel will happily produce a portrait for you at very competitive rates, in a variety of mediums including oils, acrylic, watercolour, pencil or pastels. Popular subjects are people, favourite landscapes, but most particularly pets. With prices ranging from £30 for a 9 x 12 inch pencil drawing, or £50 for an oil painting on canvas (unframed), just call with your requirements for a quick and unique portrait of your pride and joy and Hazel will be happy to help.
Tuition and workshops Regular workshops and tuition are held at the studio, in a variety of mediums and techniques. Lino printing and card making workshops are a popular favourite and can be a fun way to spend a day out with friends. If you are looking to try out a new medium, for example soft-ground copper plate etching, or perhaps landscape sketching in acrylics, taster days or hourly tuition can be booked by appointment.
About the artist Hazel Money has lived in the Hope Valley all her life and enjoys walking the hills and pathways with a sketchbook and camera, seeking out new scenes to paint. This joy in wandering the local landscape resonates in the paintings produced, often views of familiar tracks and hillsides in the Hope Valley and surrounding area. Having spent three years studying at Aberystwyth University, she has now returned home to pursue a career as a painter and printmaker, exhibiting locally and at the Studio, offering tuition, and researching new methods of printmaking.
