The Peak District Artisans’ most prestigious event of the year, the Great Dome Art Fair will take place on July 23rd and 24th. The award winning event, part of Buxton’s Festival Fringe, showcases the group’s eclectic range of talent which includes artists, designer-makers and contemporary artisans.
Chairman of PDA, Chris Farrow said: “We are extremely excited and proud of this year’s exhibition. A selection of our members will be delivering a range of demonstrations and talks giving insightful examples whilst focusing on their individual styles. It’s a great opportunity for visitors to meet the artists and see for themselves the range of skills we have to offer.”
Over the last four years The Great Dome Art Fair has grown from strength to strength attracting local visitors and people from as far as New Zealand. The event is held in high esteem in the local art-world and beyond.
Chris continued: “This has been an incredible year for us so far. As well as attending many other highly respected exhibitions, we launched our first Young Artist of the Year competition earlier in the year and achieved a fantastic response. The winners, due to be announced in June, will display their work at the event.
Founded in 1991, and originally known as Peak District Products, the group changed its name in January this year to reflect the diverse range of talent within the group. PDP was established to celebrate the very best creative work in the Peak District. Twenty years on the group has grown significantly. There are now over 60 members, ranging from highly skilled photographers and painters through to glass, ceramic and felt artists and many more.
The fair runs 10am – 4.30pm 23rd and 24th July, in The Great Dome at the Royal Devonshire Campus, Buxton. There is no admission fee.
