Description:

Hermitage Working Farm B&B provides you with an ideal base to visit the many attractions in and around the Staffordshire Moorlands, for example Alton Towers, The Peak District, Trentham Gardens, The Churnet Valley, Dovedale and The Staffordshire Potteries to name a few.

Set in the Staffordshire Moorlands, Hermitage Working Farm stands high overlooking the picturesque wooded Churnet Valley affectionately known as ‘Staffordshire’s Little Switzerland’ with its canal wharf, meandering river and nostalgic steam railway.

This 92-acre hill livestock farm was once part of the Thomas Bolton Estate and has been in the Barlow family for almost 30 years. In 1985 Wilma Barlow commenced a bed & breakfast service which has developed with the help of her family into a thriving concern. Looking after guests is an increasingly important part of the Barlows’ working life today.

Hermitage Working Farm is the perfect base for any kind of holiday, whether it be fun filled or merely quiet and relaxing. From here you can spend time at Alton Towers being just 10 minutes away, alternatively Stoke-on-Trent hosts many famous Staffordshire Potteries with their museums and factory shops and are all a meagre 12 miles away.

Waterworld, also in Stoke-on-Trent is the UK's largest indoor aqua park, ideal for that wet day!! (so don't forget to bring your swim wear).

For a quieter break the Peak National Park is also on our doorstep offering many walking and cycling trails along with numerous other beautiful and historic places to explore. We also edge on to the "Staffordshire Way" so for walkers we are an ideal location. The market towns of Leek, Cheadle, Uttoxeter, Ashbourne and Buxton are all within a 30-minute drive.

The rooms in the main farmhouse are carefully decorated and furnished in an Olde Worlde style complementing the abundance of genuine oak beams and oak panels, enabling you to fully experience and appreciate the splendour and character of this beautiful pre 16th Century Grade II Listed Farmhouse.

The Coach House and Pump House B & B, each with their own entrances for added privacy, is a large, newly converted yet traditional farm building each consisting of luxury en-suite bedrooms, some on the ground floor improving access for the less mobile or partially disabled guest and some capable of sleeping larger families of up to 6 people. Also included is an extensive kitchen for the more independent visitor.

All these B & B rooms have been sensitively restored to a high standard incorporating both modern facilities with traditional characteristics yet retaining their charm and atmosphere of a prestigious establishment.

Furthermore all rooms overlook some spectacular landscape, which is steeped in history and heritage.

Access to your room would be available throughout the day should you wish to return early or merely have a relaxing day enjoying the delights of our panoramic views.

Your Breakfast will be freshly prepared in the morning as it should be, using only fresh local produce from regular local suppliers.

The Bed & Breakfast accommodation is situated in a very suitable location with the local attractions including Alton Towers, Peak District National Park and the great outdoors of Staffordshire Moorlands.

These wonderful attractions and impressive pre 16th Century building are complimented by the welcoming atmosphere and friendly service from the staff at the Hermitage Working Farm. This creates the perfect warmth and welcoming feeling for all visitors.
