Description: Hillcrest House is a former 19th Century coaching inn on the road into Dovedale. It was originally called the Dovedale Hotel and provided lodging, refreshments and a change of horses to coaches on their way. It is now run as a private family guest house by local couple, Dan and Margaret Sutton who continues the traditions of yesteryear.
With the most stunning views of the surrounding countryside, what better place to explore from. You can leave your car and set off on foot in any direction, on some of the most popular footpaths in the Peak District.
There is a reception area, licensed residents lounge and dining room. All are tastefully furnished, in keeping with the character and atmosphere of this warm and friendly home. The lounge and bedrooms all have extensive views of the surrounding countryside.
The large Super King room is very spacious with a very large window overlooking Thorpe Cloud; the Four Poster rooms, with kingsize beds, are perfect for a romantic get away with a touch of luxury and the other rooms consist of two Doubles, again with kingsize beds, a Twin and a Single Room. There is also a wireless connection for your laptop so if needed you can keep up with friends.
The Super King Room The Super King bedroom on the first floor has a large 6' wide bed. The room extends from one side of the building to the other, therefore you have views on both sides. From the bedroom there is a large (7' x 5') window which overlooks 'Thorpe Cloud', which is said to be the first hill in the pennine chain, and on the other side, overlooks the large garden and the surrounding countryside. The room also doubles as a family room as extra beds can be added to suit your needs. The en-suite bathroom has a large corner shower.

The Four Poster Rooms There are two Four-Poster rooms which both overlook the garden and the surrounding countryside. In the Spring, you can see the lambs frolicking in the morning sun, and from Summer we have pheasants roaming around the field. Both have Kingsize beds, are en-suite with showers and are located on the first floor
Room 3 This room has built-in furniture and if you have a small child, a small pine bed (5' long) can also be fitted in the room.
Room 4 This room has free-standing pine furniture and a traditional feel and also has a large bathroom.

The Double Rooms
Room 6 Overlooks in the direction of Ilam, the next village which is said to look like a Swiss hamlet, with its’ individual style of house, Ilam Hall and Park where many films have their backdrop around the hall. The room itself has views of Bunster hill and the valley of the River Dove, and gets the evening sun. With its’ kingsize bed and old beam across, the room feels very cosy and warm.
Room 8 Overlooks the village of Thorpe and Thorpe pastures where the ‘Dovedale Dash’ a hill run of 4.5 miles takes place on the first Sunday of November. This room gets the early morning sun, again with a kingsize bed, this room has a large corner shower.
Double Room's (Kingsize) 2nd floor En-suite: £30.00 per person per night
Twin & Single Rooms The Twin room and the Single room both share the bathroom, which contains both a bath and a shower, both rooms also have wash-basins in their rooms. The Twin room beds will zip together to make a 6' wide bed, if the need arises.
