Description:

images/4stars[1].jpgWelcome to Innisfree Cottage in Eyam – the heart of the Peak District.

Eyam is one of the best-preserved villages in the Peak District with a unique history as the famous ‘plague village’.

Innisfree Cottage is an excellent base for walkers and there are numerous routes accessible literally from the front door. Packed lunches are available on request for those venturing out for a full day. The property has been recently converted to accommodate guests on the first floor in two newly decorated and re-furbished rooms overlooking the beautiful countryside.

There is a double room with en-suite and shower and a twin room with private bathroom, which includes a bath and shower. Each room has tea and coffee making facilities, TV and DVD, radio and CD player, hair dryer and controllable central heating. Guests have their own entrance and there is ample car parking on the drive.

Breakfast is served in the warm and pretty breakfast room and guests have their own tables to enjoy an excellent range of breakfast cereals, fruit, yoghurt, juice and full English breakfast made from locally sourced produce.

In addition, guests can relax in the knowledge that equipment such as bicycles and climbing gear can be safely stored and there is an area for drying outdoor clothes and boots should the weather prove to be less clement.

There is free WiFi access for guests.

Our accommodation is non-smoking throughout. The property is unsuitable for children under the age of 12 years and we are unable to accept pets.

Room rates are £30.00 per person per night bed and breakfast.

Single occupancy rate is £45.00 per person per night bed and breakfast.

A £20.00 deposit per room is required to secure the booking.

Packed lunches at £3.50 per person are available consisting of two rounds of sandwiches, a packet of crisps, a piece of fruit and a chocolate biscuit, plus a carton of juice or flask of tea or coffee.

Innisfree Cottage is situated on the edge of the village on a quiet lane with stunning views. It is within easy walking distance of the museum, church, local pub and tearooms and the famous plague cottages where the outbreak began. On the main street is Eyam Hall built in 1676 open to visitors in the summer months and host to a small craft centre. There are several excellent pubs and restaurants within either walking or driving distance.

Eyam is ideally placed to explore the popular attractions of the area. Chatsworth house is a 15-minute drive and is one of the premier attractions of the area. The house originally built in the mid 16th century is magnificent and has been the setting for several period dramas and films one of the most recent being ‘The Duchess’. The gardens and surrounding parkland are easily accessible and offer long rambling walks along the River Derwent. In addition to the house and gardens are a farm shop, garden centre, gift shops and restaurant.

Bakewell is only 15 minutes away and hosts the traditional Monday farmers market. In a stunning position on the River Wye there is a quaint array of boutique style shops, pubs and restaurants to explore.

The attractive village of Castleton with its show caves, gift shops and Norman castle is within a 30-minute drive. The ‘Blue John’ is famous in the area and is a fluorspar discoloured by blue and yellow impurities and much used in jewellery.

By contrast the nearby spa town of Buxton, cultural capital of the Peak District offers stunning scenery, elegant shops and magnificent architecture.
