Peak District Bed & Breakfast - Orchard House Bed & Breakfast - Bakewell
Orchard House Bed & Breakfast is in a quiet part of Bakewell in the Peak District National Park. We have three double bedrooms, all en-suite. The luxury Four-Poster Room is the largest bedroom of the three, the West Suite has its own private sitting room (completed autumn 2014), and the Garden Room (also completed autumn 2014) has French windows that give onto a large decking area overlooking the back garden. We offer goose-down quilts. There is plenty of private off-road parking and secure storage for bikes.
The property was built for the people of Bakewell on land donated by the Duke of Rutland in the Victorian era. It was elegantly designed, with high ceilings and spacious reception rooms. Guests take breakfast in the large drawing room.
The gravelled parking area is large enough to take around seven cars, and the gates can be locked for security, by arrangement.
The house is accessed on arrival via the main entrance on the ground floor (down a few steps from the parking area). Thereafter guests will be able to reach their rooms at first floor level over a stone arch from the car park.
The Four-Poster Room was refurbished in 2013 and it offers spacious accommodation around a solid oak four-poster bed. There are windows at either end, giving views to the East and to the West. There is a writing desk, walnut sideboard, carved camphor-wood blanket chest, several comfy chairs, tea making facilities and a flat screen TV. The new en-suite bathroom has twin basins and a bath with shower over.
The West Suite bedroom overlooks the rear garden and, beyond that, the fields across the valley. There is a new double bed and goose down quilt. Tea making facilities and a new flat-screen TV/DVD are provided. The en-suite bathroom has both a claw-foot bath and double shower enclosure.
The Suite has its own private sitting room across the corridor, and this has a sofa, coffee table, large TV and an occasional dining table and chairs.
The Garden Room is on the ground floor. There is a new double sleigh bed and goose down quilt. Tea making facilities and a new flat-screen TV/DVD are provided. The en-suite has a double shower enclosure, wash hand basin and toilet. The bedroom has French windows that give onto a large decking area overlooking the back garden
(Note that, although this room is on the ground floor, some steps still need to be negotiated from the car parking area).
The one-night room rate for the Four-Poster Room is £110, and for the West Suite and Garden Room it is £90. This assumes double occupancy.
The single-occupancy rate is £10 less.
The rate drops for stays of more than one night.
For Friday and Saturday arrivals in the high season, there is a two-night minimum.
We have free Wi-Fi.
