(see picture 1)

Distances from The Old Hay Barn to:

Bakewell 3.5 miles

Ashford-in-the-Water 2 miles

Tideswell 3 miles

Buxton 8.5 miles

Building..
It is a 200 year-old tall L-shaped stone barn on two floors which was converted 4 years ago so the interior is contemporary and built to modern building standards.

Accommodation..
The B&B accommodation, all on the ground floor, consists of one suite (bedroom, en-suite, private sitting room) and one double en-suite. The tariff is the same for both. The double en-suite has a larger bedroom and bathroom but no private sitting room. It overlooks the lake. The suite looks out onto the courtyard.

The B&B accommodation is approached through a large entrance hall. Breakfast is in a modern conservatory overlooking the lake. All the rooms have a mixture of modern and quality antique furnishings. Bathrooms are modern with white tiled walls and floors and stainless steel fittings.
Both bedrooms are equipped with TV/DVD/Video, tea/coffee making facilities, comprehensive library including brochures/maps.

Breakfast..
Breakfast consists of : a choice of six types of cereal, yogurt, grapefruit, fresh fruit, orange juice, toast/croissants, served with tea/coffee. A choice of English breakfast (bacon, egg, sausage, tomato, mushrooms), or American (pancakes, maple syrup, hash browns etc), or vegetarian ( poached, scrambled eggs etc) is included.
Every effort is made to met specific dietary needs and guests are encouraged to have generous helpings if required.

Outside..
Guests arrive via a long cobbled driveway into a paved/graveled courtyard completely enclosed by the barn building and a sheer limestone cliff. To the rear there is a natural wooded garden leading down to the river and the lake. There are numerous pot plants/tress decorating the paved areas.

Amenities..
There are several popular long and short walks which can be undertaken directly from the barn. Fishing the river Wye is possible within 5 minutes walk.
The barn is very centrally situated for seeing the Peak District. Chatsworth House is 15 minutes away and practically all attractions are within a 10 mile radius
Local shopping is in Bakewell, Buxton or the nearby cathedral town of Tideswell.

Restaurants..
Our nearest restaurant is at Monsal Head (an iconic Peak District viewing point) which is about a mile away. Most guests choose to walk there although it is up quite a steep hill.
There are numerous other good pub/restaurants within 2 to 5 miles.More exotic tastes (Thai,Italian,Indian etc) are catered for in Bakewell/Buxton.

Tariff..
The tariff is between £32 and £35 per person per night including full breakfast. Reductions are available for longer stays. We are confident that for an ETB 5 star, silver award, Peak district B&B we are very competitively priced and if any similarly graded B&B is shown to be cheaper, we will invariably match their price.
