Address: No 2 Bank House, Bakewell, Derbyshire
Area: Bakewell
Facilities: All Weather Attraction, Child Friendly, Countryside Views, Garden
Description:

No.2 Bank House is a credit card throw away from the centre of Bakewell, situated in an amazing, yet secluded residential location shared by only two other sympathetically renovated character properties. Originally Bank House was a girls boarding school dating back from the Georgian era.

Exterior:

Bank HouseFrom the outside there is no mistaking the presence of the gracious Grade II Listed three storey property; you are invited in off Bath Street through a black wrought iron garden gate down a short narrow path into a private lawn overlooked by the entirety of the beautiful Bank House, a property that has no shortage of personality with original external & internal features.

As you walk in between the well manicured box planters you are met by the lamp room glossy grey front door complete with doctor’s door knocker, at this point you know you have arrived at somewhere very special.

Accommodation:
Behind the weight of the front door you are welcomed by a décor that is an elegant mix between a Belgravia town house, a boutique hotel and a well appointed, yet cosy home.

Bank House front roomGround floor - Turning left through the front door (trying to avoid peeking at the palatial staircase!) will take you into the cosy lounge furnished with two moleskin sofa’s, guilt antique long seat, open fireplace, stunning artworks along with a subtle wall hung flat screen with complementary satellite television, all under the view of the first of many contemporary chandeliers.

Directly from the lounge you enter into the eating room, this functional space can accommodate up to six diners in comfort. When your meal is finished why not take in a book, movie or choose a board game from our well stocked cupboard? As you glance from the dining table you will discover the original door way through to the tastefully appointed fully equipped kitchen , comprising of dishwasher, washer / dryer, electric oven, gas hob, tall fridge with generous freezer compartment and separate microwave, don’t forget to open the stable door onto the quaint private back lane which leads down to the garage.

Level 1 – As you climb the stunning staircase taking in the original Georgian paneling, interesting wall paper and artworks you arrive at the first landing under the grand chandelier. To your first left is a luxuriously dressed double bedroom with king size bed and bedside cabinets complete with reading lamp to each, bow fronted wardrobe with wooden clothes hangers (no plastic in this house!), matching dresser, Ipod dock with remote, wall hung television and not forgetting the chandelier of course. This bedroom has views onto the lawn and beyond onto the blue slate rooftops of other listed properties.

The bathroom is also located on level 1, fitted with a top end Kohler suite with fired earth lime house tiling , wall hung sink complete with a well lit mirror, toilet and large bath with centre mounted taps (two can enjoy), with fixed shower over the far end of the bath. As you walk out of the bathroom back onto the landing you pass the secret cupboard onto the next flight of stairs to be greeted by a huge window with stunning views of Baghaw Hall, you then soon arrive at the top floor.

Level 2 – The first door on the right leads into the smallest bedroom, although it is the smallest, the high standard of décor is retained. This bedroom has a guest bed which converts to sleep two guests. A flat screen television can be found in the corner near the original window seat with views onto Bagshaw Hill and beyond.

The final bedroom is worth waiting for, again a generously sized double with everything you have come to expect from this luxury property, king sized bed with bedside cabinets complete with reading lamp to each, bow fronted wardrobe with wooden clothes hangers, matching dresser, wall hung television, and a very special quiet corner with separate window & restored window seat, this bedroom has two windows, both with exceptional views into Bakewell and the Haddon estate.

Outside
Weather permitting, the lawn can be a great place to enjoy a game of mini-croquet, laze around or enjoy a meal on the outside eating area.
Bank House has its very own private garage with additional free parking on Bath Street and a choice of no fewer than four “pay and display car parks” all within a two minute walk.

Location:
Staying in Bakewell offers you the advantage of been located right in the heart of the Peak District, with more than a generous choice of shops, antique dealers, restaurants, country pubs, stately homes and halls, parks, golf courses and scenic walks in gorgeous countryside.

We would kindly ask you not to confuse Bank House with any other, not only is it genuinely located on the flat of Bakewell but a sympathetically restored grade II listed building with a gracious and contemporary flavour.
