Cleanliness, attention to detail We take pride in maintaining high standards of housekeeping; grounds are well tended and the grass is kept short. The ambience is pleasant and sheltered with mature trees, hedges and shrubs. Post and rail fences and hedges are separate the main pitching areas. Amenity blocks are illuminated all night.
What we're not ~ "LIVELY" We welcome families and quiet couples, don't accept single-sex groups and unaccompanied teenagers, don't have a club or disco and, as a condition of camping, we ask that people make no noise after 10:30pm - Sometimes, despite our best endeavours, people break the rules: if they do they will be asked to leave.
What we are ~ "LOCATION" (Beautiful) Looking north we face Win Hill, Lose Hill and the high gritstone hills of The Dark Peak; looking south are the gentler rolling hills of The White Peak. The park is on the floor of Hope Valley with the River Noe running alongside. We are surrounded on all sides by hill and riverside footpaths. Edale and the start of the Pennine Way is 4 miles up the valley, the soaring edges of Curbar and Froggat 4 miles down. Laneside is a pretty site and the river attracts wildlife (and ducks that would be wild - if our visitors didn't spoil them rotten...)
"LOCATION" (Convenient) The river separates us from Hope village - over the bridge and you're there. Hope has four pubs, a Chinese restaurant and hikers cafe. There is a 7-night 'til 10:00pm Spar shopping, Post Office/newsagents, delicatessen/bakery, butchers, and speciality shops. Buses up and down the valley stop outside our exit and Hope Village railway station is a 4 minute walk. Trains connect with Manchester and Sheffield and - even better - trains and buses provide great ride-and-walk-back options...Forget the car (e.g., take the train up to Edale and walk back - downhill all the way!) \
"LOCATION" (Central) "The Peak District" can be a casually used term. The Peak Park Conservation Area, as defined on OS maps, is the area of outstanding natural beauty protected from commercialism. Laneside is at the heart of this. Castleton with its mediaeval castle and caverns is 2 miles down the valley road - or a pleasant 30 minutes riverside stroll straight from the site. Chatsworth House is a 15 minute drive, Bakewell and Buxton 20 to 25 minutes, and around us are the prettiest villages of the peak - Historic Eyam, Tideswell with its lovely 'Cathedral of the Peak' church and Hathersage with its historic connections to Little John and Charlotte Bronte. Hathersage also has a swimming pool and tennis courts open to the public and is just 5 minutes drive.
