Description:

Mill Cottage is a fully equipped self-catering holiday cottage for up to 5 people in the Peak District National Park.

Located right beneath The Roaches and Ramshaw Rocks in the tiny hamlet of Upper Hulme, Mill Cottage is a fantastic home-from-home for climbers and walkers. All the major Peak attractions - Alton Towers, Chatsworth House, Shugborough, Buxton, Ashbourne, Bakewell and Ilam - are all just a short drive away.

The Area.
Upper Hulme is a tiny, but busy, hamlet between Leek and Buxton. There are several farms in the village, and the old mill and dye works buildings are home to some thriving businesses.
As the name suggests, the cottage was once part of the mill which was until the early 1970s a silk dyeing works. Now, our immediate neighbours manufacture equipment for other mills and dye processors in the old mill buildings.

There's a rich industrial heritage on our doorstep: just a short walk up the farm track opposite the ford you will find the recently restored Dains Mill which may date back to the 1500s, and the Churnet Valley (best explored on the Churnet Valley Railway) is packed with flint mills, copper works and old mine workings.

Walkers and climbers will love the Roaches & Hen Cloud, which are a 10 minute amble away. The views across the Peak District and west across Cheshire and to the Welsh border are simply stunning, and the climbing is world class.

"The Rock" pub is only a couple of minutes' walk up the hill from Mill Cottage, where you'll find a huge menu and a great bar.

Accommodation (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 5)
On the top floor is the Master bedroom with a king size double bed, bedroom two has single bed & bunkbeds. The bathroom is also on the top floor and contains a bath & shower.

The ground floor has a large sitting room containing a TV with Freesat & DVD, CD player/radio and wood-burning stove.

On the lower ground floor there is a huge open plan kitchen/diner, electric oven, halogen hob, microwave, washer, fridge with freezer compartment and access to the garden.

Outside in the garden there is a table, chairs, BBQ and a view of the stream.

Children
Kids always have a great time here: the garden backs onto the mill stream, but is safely fenced in to stop the more adventurous taking an early bath. Just across the road is a ford and small waterfall which our son (Nathan) has enjoyed exploring since he was four.

There are 2 staircases which toddlers and crawlers may have problems with - please let us know and we will arrange stair-gates for you.

Features
o Includes all bed linen, towels
o Full central heating, plus a wood-burner in the sitting room.
o Heating and electricity are included in the rental price.
o Dogs are welcome by arrangement, although a supplementary cleaning charge may be made.
