Description: Swift Cottage, once part of the Duke of Devonshire's manor, is a 200 year old, warm and homely, stone-built cottage situated in a prime location on the edge of the village of Tideswell, the 'Cathedral of the Peak'. 'Townhead', as the area is locally known, is a haven of tranquillity, surrounded by open countryside yet just a few minutes walk away from the hustle and bustle of the vibrant village centre, with all its amenities. One of four such properties adjoined in an isolated southerly-facing terrace, it benefits from all day sunshine and glorious views over the dale.
The cottage is family owned and managed to high standards by Tideswell residents, offering clean and comfortable accommodation at competitive prices.
The property includes 3 bedrooms, 2 doubles and 1 single, sleeping up to 5 guests. Furnished to a high standard, it provides everything you'll need for recuperating after a hard day in the great outdoors, sunbathing when the weather is fine or relaxing with your feet up in front of the cosy log burning stove.
To the front is a spacious paved patio area with scenic views over the dale, with steps down to the lane through the cottage garden. The patio is equipped with quality teak furniture for dining out and relaxing in during warm weather, watching the swifts after which the cottage is named darting about at breakneck speed through the dale as you sit back with a cool drink.
Behind the cottage is a paved, elevated patio with a shed suitable for mountain bike/cycle storage. Both front and rear patio areas benefit from all day sun and are equipped with quality hardwood tables and umbrellas, chairs, benches and sun loungers. The front patio with its scenic views is perfect for dining out and barbecues, and wood burning chimineas are provided.
We operate a policy of continuous improvement to the cottage, while always seeking to retain its original character. Electrical appliances and all carpets, furniture and beds are recently purchased and good quality. We want you to enjoy your stay at Swift Cottage and leave wanting to come back again.
Access The main access to the cottage is via the level path which runs across the front of the terrace and which is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Secondary access is via steps through the front garden and rear patio area,
Smoking Smoking is not permitted inside the cottage, for the comfort of all guests.
Pet policy As dog owners ourselves, we understand first-hand the pleasure of exploring the beautiful Peak District with your dog. We welcome up to two small- or medium- sized dogs, at a charge of £20 per dog. For the comfort of other guests, we would ask that owners ensure their pet remains downstairs and provide a suitable bed or cage for sleeping, as well as food and water bowls. There is a large green directly behind the cottage which is ideal for taking your pet out last thing at night or for an early morning walk.
