Description:

images/4stars[1].gifOn the Eastern edge of the Peak District National Park  equidistant from Buxton and Ashbourne high upon the outskirts of Matlock this newly refurbished  Victorian property is located in a delightful elevated position commanding some excellent views of the  Derwent valley below. West View is the “modern” half of an older larger house fully independent from the owner’s residence. The accommodation consists of spacious high ceilinged light rooms beloved of the Victorian age and is to a very high specification. The more independent visitors  on a business  and corporate basis will find the  convenient internet access  offered most convivial.

Access to the cottage is from the road or the side entrance by the parking area: the former up a few shallow steps and the latter one step through to a pretty porch to the hallway. (There is additional  free parking available on the road) The front elevation and garden enjoys the  sun throughout the day and you can relax in comfort and privacy.

Entering through a  pretty porch on your left is the welcoming  cosy lounge with large picture window, TV, and of course the log burning stove.  The sofa converts to an extra bed if needed.  To your right from the hall is the spacious dining kitchen with a  range  and large dining table and is fully equipped with all essentials for your stay. A door to the rear leads into a utility area with dishwasher and washing machine and from where you find a shower cubicle and  toilet.  The stairs lead  up to a small landing from which  a single step (please be careful) leads up on each side to the good sized bedrooms  both  with panoramic views of the area: to your right one bedroom has a TV/DVD and two single beds  which can be linked to form a super king size  bed on request. On the other side the  main bedroom is furnished with a double king size brass bed. Adjacent to this room is a fully tiled and equipped bathroom with bath and shower over, toilet and hand basin.

At the same time you will also be able to enjoy the original art in all the rooms undertaken by the owner some of which may be available for sale.

Things To Do
Chatsworth House , Haddon Hall and the historic  market town Bakewell are all but a short drive away. Matlock town and Matlock Bath (2-3miles) is the immediate shopping centre with many attractions and a variety of   restaurants and take-aways. A garage with late opening convenience store is ½ mile  away. Whitworth Park restaurant and beer garden with many popular events is within walking distance too on the A6.
The ancient custom of Well Dressing (and blessing the wells) with the accompanying celebrations move from village to village throughout the Peak District during the summer months starting with Tissington in early May. Please consult dates.
Ancient  and prehistoric monuments such as Arbour Low, Nine Ladies, Hole Hurst House etc  are also of special interest.

Famed for all variety of outdoor pursuits such as walking, horse riding, cycling, climbing, trekking, ballooning, sky-diving, pot-holing or just enjoying an afternoon tea at one of the many spectacular sights of the Peak Park will not disappoint.

There are direct off road footpaths from West View Cotage  through woods and waterfalls. All the magnificent scenery of the Peak Park with the huge variety of  country pursuits and special events is on the doorstep.
