In the 19th Century the hotel dominated the town but parts such as the stable block have been sold. However over the past decade the present owner has reacquired the buildings and the hotel now has 34 individually styled en-suite bedrooms including the Jane Austin suite as it is believed that the famous author was amongst the long list of famous names such as the painter Turner, Byron, Coleridge and Wordsworth who have found a bed for the night at the hotel whist visiting Chatsworth House. The most recent acquisition is opening shortly has an antique centre which promises to second to non in the area.

Set half way between Buxton and Matlock, just 4 miles from the Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall the Rutland Arms is an ideal venue from which to explore the beautiful countryside of the Peak District national Park. The town of Bakewell is famous for its Bakewell Pudding which is understood to have originated in the kitchens of the Rutland Arms.

The Rutland Arms hotel is an ideal venue for everything from Morning Coffee, Afternoon Tea, Lunch and Dinner everyday of the week, including Sunday Lunch.
