Peak District Moors Learning Centre

This section covers the third part of the Moors for the Future Partnership project- To establish a learning centre to develop conservation expertise and provide a research and educational resource available to all.

A new visitor and learning centre will be delivered through the redevelopment of the existing National Park centre at Edale.

The centre aims to:

  • Interpret the special qualities of the moorlands for visitors to Edale in order to increase the public’s understanding and enjoyment of this fragile national resource
  • Provide improved landscaping
  • Aim to attract repeat visitors, through changing displays and a programme of events
  • Cater for a range of ages and interests
  • Provide ‘access for all’ (disabled) to the buildings and grounds
  • Provide a rest and shelter area
  • Provide an information service, including weather forecast and wildlife sightings
  • Provide retail and display space
