Whatever your needs, you'll find a warm welcome awaiting you from Tony, Jenny, Jason and Hazel. The Red Lion is unique, with antiques and an incredibly warm and inviting environment. There are many claims to fame for The Red Lion at Hognaston...their food, enjoyed and commented upon by Derbyshire Life, the Daily Mail, the Daily Telegraph and The Observer. Only the very best produce is used and prepared daily by their chefs. Their rooms have also been frequented by such celebrities as John F Kennedy, Jr and his wife Carolyn Bessette!
It also has superior accommodation with en suite facilities. And don't worry if you're on a business trip or entertaining clients when you visit, you can stay in touch with your base using our WiFi connection.
The Bar .
With its traditional country pub atmosphere, the Red Lion bar will welcome and refresh even the weariest traveller, particularly with its open fires roaring in the chimney on the coldest days. Enjoy a pint of one of their guest ales, a glass of wine or a refreshing, freshly-made cup of tea or coffee while you choose from our Bar Menu or check the bar's chalk board for the day's specials.
But mind your head on the ship's basket as you come in through the front door. Children and dogs are welcome in the bars, but not in the letting rooms. And, if you're in at lunchtime and don't want a full meal, check out the baguettes they have on offer, delicious! Freshly baked baguettes, with a choice of fillings and a house-dressed side salad garnish. More details below.
