Situated in the heart of the Peak District, the 16th Century Cheshire Cheese Inn owes its name to being an overnight stopping point on the old salt carrying route from Cheshire across the Pennines to Yorkshire. Payment for lodgings at the Inn was actually made in cheese.
Today it retains a relaxed, unspoilt, old-world atmosphere, with open fires, traditionally brewed hand-pulled beer and a reputation for good wholesome home made food.

It is about half a mile from the centre of Hope Village on the Edale Road (turning off the Sheffield to Castleton Road opposite Hope Church).
It is a 25 minute drive from Sheffield and around 30 – 35 minutes from Stockport and Manchester.

If you are looking for a place to stay with likeminded outdoor active people then you have come to the right place. We offer simple comfortable and affordable accommodation above the Inn where you can relax and re-cooperate after a long day on the hills.
We have an extensive range of maps, guidebooks and general interest books for you to peruse over a pint of locally brewed ale. If you are looking for some organised outdoor adventure then we can provide this for you.
Sorry, we don’t allow dogs in the overnight accommodation but we can put you in touch with some local kennels.
 
Our Rooms
• Family Ensuite room - Spacious room comprising of one double and one single bed. Ensuite shower room. Window seat with views over Wynn Hill. Flat screen television and tea and coffee facilities.
• Small Double ensuite room - Small double room with shower room. Sink in bedroom. Triple bunk bed – double below and single on top making it a perfect room for a couples, friends or a family looking for affordable accommodation. Window seat with beautiful views over Winn Hill. Flat screen television and tea and coffee making facilities. This room is situated over the bar so there can be some noise.
• Double Ensuite Room - Double room with ensuite bathroom and stand alone shower. Flat screen television and tea and coffee making facilities.
• A fourth Double Room will be available from March 2012.
