The Lantern Pike Inn is a Pub, Restaurant and B & B situated in Little Hayfield, on the A624 between Glossop and Chapel-en-le-Frith, and has been an Inn since 1851. The pub itself dates from the building of the turnpike from Old Glossop to Buxton in 1792.

Steeped in history and rich in character the pub is within the bounds of the Peak District National Park, and whilst having all modern amenities (e.g. free wifi access) the pub still retains its old world charm and provides the perfect base for you to discover The Peak District, Hayfield and surrounding attractions.

http://www.peakdistrictonline.co.uk/images/good-pub-guide.pngToday, the resident owners Stella and Tom Cunliffe extend a warm and friendly welcome to all who frequent their country hostelry, with a roaring fire, good food complemented with a well-balanced Wine Menu, well-kept real ales and comfortable bedrooms. We are also very proud to be Hayfield's ONLY main entry in the Good Pub Guide for the past 6 years.

You may be interested to learn that it was at the Lantern Pike that the very earliest Coronation Street episodes were written by its originator Tony Warren.

Located as we are in the Dark Peak we are an ideal centre for many energetic and not so energetic activities:

• Fell walking/running, Cycling, road and mountain – all the highest peaks are located here in the Dark Peak
• Clay pigeon shooting – three established shoots within easy reach and a certified Bratsound Gun Cabinet available for residents to use free of charge
• Golf – several golf courses on our doorstep
• Horse riding – a number of stables within a few minutes drive
• Rock climbing – anywhere!
• Canoeing, Kayaking, Boating

We are in easy reach of Chatsworth House, The Chestnut Centre, Lyme Park, the village of Eyam (plague village), Alton Towers (approx. 90 minutes) and many more interesting places.

We have been voted in the top 15 British Beer Gardens by MSN Travel UK and we are also very proud of our mystery shopper review by the Daily Telegraphs Pub Reviewer Arthur Taylor.  Please visit our website to read more about the reviews.

Whether you’re a tourist, a weekend break seeker or in the area on business we have the right package for you.

Bar & Restaurant

The Bar
Our bar has a warm and intimate atmosphere and serves tasty homemade Pub Food. Real ale is always available. Check us out in the Good Beer Guide, we are one of only two pubs in the area privileged enough to have an entry.

It is our policy to always have a minimum of two cask conditioned ales available as well as a good selection of lagers, ciders and Guinness, a well-balanced Wine Menu, a well-stocked spirit shelf complemented with a whole host of fruit drinks, mixers and other non-alcoholic thirst quenchers.

However, if it's just a nice cuppa you want we also served traditional English tea, this in addition to some not so traditional teas from around the world.

We can also offer you a cup of freshly ground Kenco Fairtrade coffee served as either an Americano, Au Lait, Macchiato, Cappuccino, Black or Espresso, or a liqueur coffee of your choice.

The Restaurant and Our Food Policy
The vast majority of our dishes, including our soups, sauces, desserts and potato dishes are homemade using fresh ingredients. We do not buy frozen pre-made products, people tell us they can taste the difference.

Likewise, our fish ~ comes direct from Grimsby Docks to here. We select and purchase top quality iced fish and leave our chefs to prepare them and enhance with a sauce or two where appropriate.

Our commitment to you the customer, whether you eat fish or meat, savoury or vegetarian, soup or salad, the basics remain the same, it will be made using the freshest of ingredients and prepared in our own kitchens. Over 95% of all foodstuffs are prepared this way.

At The Lantern Pike Inn, we are extremely proud of our menu. We use only the finest ingredients reflecting seasonal market and availability, expertly prepared. It is for this reason that we do not have a printed menu but a constantly changing chalkboard. Why not look at a typical daily specials board.
