Description: The Royal Oak is a small family-run pub and hotel based in Chapel en Le Frith. It dates back to the early 18th Century and was once home to the local justice of the peace who held court here until 1879. At one time a busy Post House, the Royal Oak was a popular coaching house serving travelers between Sheffield and Manchester.
Now a popular local pub with an enviable reputation for the pleasant staff, great food and comfortable accommodation – Simon and His Staff offer a warm welcome to visitors and locals alike.
The Royal Oak has a traditional bar with a welcoming open fireplace. In the summer months our outside bar terrace is a fantastic place to relax in the sunshine.
Choose from a range of Marstons beers, guest ales, Continental lagers and a good selection of fine wines and spirits. If you’re hungry, we offer a fantastic menu.

Frith is a local word for forest and Chapel-En-Le-Frith is the settlement which grew up around the church which was erected here by Foresters from the Royal Forest of the Peak in 1225. The church was dedicated to St Thomas Becket, murdered in 1170.
The Royal Oak overlooks the cobbled market square which lies just 100 metres south-west of the church. The market square contains a fine old market cross, the old town stocks, war memorial and a horse trough placed here to mark Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee.
