The Travellers Rest is a long established public house looking after locals and visitors alike.

Currently under private ownership the inn has undergone major refurbishment using local stone and timber beams, retaining a lovey character.

Also having open fires which guarantee you a warm welcome.

The Travellers is open seven days a week serving quality home cooked meals, lunch and dinner.

There is a bar, as well as separate dining rooms which have non-smoking and smoking areas.

Real fires, great food, drinking and friendly local staff will ensure you enjoy your meal or stay with us.

Outside is a well tended garden with a separate children's play area and plenty of tables. Just right for those lovely summer's days.

Nestling in the centre of Hope Valley in the heart of Derbyshire Peak District, it is surrounded by beautiful scenery.

Local attractions include Chatsworth House, the village of Castleton with the famous Blue John Caves. The climbing area of Stanage Edge and of course the beautiful walking and rambling on the hills and moors.

Accommodation
We now have five double/twin bedrooms, all tastefully decorated including a four-poster room for those special occasions.

All rooms have private showers or baths and have colour tv, tea and coffee-making facility.

They all have a great countryside view.

History
Brough has strong links to Roman times, the Roman military camp ANAVIO was situated only a few hundred metres south of The Travellers Rest. Probably built around AD155-158 by a Roman cohort sent to police the local lead mines which were important, and a source of wealth for the Romans. A Roman alter stone, which had been set up by Proculus the commander of Anavio, was unearthed in 1980 and is now exhibited in Sheffield's Western Park Museum.

Situation
The Travellers is situated 1 mile from the villages of Hope and Bradwell at the junction of the A6187 and B6049. Hope railway station is a ten minute walk away and there is a bus stop outside the pub which has the main Castleton to Sheffield bus service.
