Description:
Back Tor is part of the Hollowford Centre site at Castleton and is open all year round. This self-contained accommodation was built in 2008 and offers en suite bedrooms for up to 29 people, a self-catering kitchen and a comfortable lounge for relaxing.
The versatile accommodation is ideal for all, schools, youth groups, corporate events and groups of families and friends wishing to enjoy the picturesque village of Castleton.
The bedrooms. On the ground floor we have two rooms that have been specifically designed for use by people with disabilities. With a bunk bed and a single bed in each room, one room has a wet room and shower whilst the other has a bathroom. The remaining rooms are for six people to share and are spacious with exceptionally comfortable easy to access bunk beds.
The kitchen. We are happy to provide a range of meal options to suite your group with all dietary or religious needs being catered for. Our fresh food is all purchased locally and FairTrade products are used wherever possible. Most of our groups enjoy the wholesome, home cooked meals, which are served in the dining room of the main Centre and we are confident that you will be pleased with what we offer.
We can offer a self-catering option for groups staying in Back Tor. The fully equipped kitchen is ideal for preparing food for groups.

The lounge. If you are taking advantage of having meals prepared by our catering team, the lounge is just that, a comfortable light and relaxed setting. For groups who are self-catering the lounge also becomes your dining room. With tables and chairs that can be moved out of the way after mealtimes, there is still plenty of space to ‘chill out’.
Outside. Back Tor is set in beautiful countryside and the village of Castleton offers plenty for visitors including a good range of pubs, restaurants and cafes for those all-important tea and cake stops. Stepping outside the Centre, the ridge from Losehill to Mam Tor will tempt you to put on your walking boots and head for the hills.
Adventure. With a wealth of countryside on your doorstep, Back Tor naturally provides an excellent base from where you can access caves, crags, rivers moors and limestone dales. If you would like us to lead you on an adventure we can offer a full range of activities, some are on-site at Hollowford, others, such as climbing, caving or canoeing, take you a little further a field.
Lindley Educational Trust, who own Back Tor, Hollowford and Shining Cliff is a well established charity providing personal and team development programmes, working across the UK with all sectors of society.
The overall aim of the youth programmes is to ensure that young people, regardless of background, race, sex, religion, ethnic origin, disadvantage or disability, are provided with the tools and the confidence to reach their full potential throughout life. Through booking Back Tor you are supporting our work with all young people.
