This 92-acre hill livestock farm was once part of the Thomas Bolton Estate and has been in the Barlow family for almost 30 years. In 1985 Wilma Barlow commenced a bed & breakfast service which has developed with the help of her family into a thriving concern. Looking after guests is an increasingly important part of the Barlows’ working life today.
Hermitage Working Farm is the perfect base for any kind of holiday, whether it be fun filled or merely quiet and relaxing. From here you can spend time at Alton Towers being just 10 minutes away, alternatively Stoke-on-Trent hosts many famous Staffordshire Potteries with their museums and factory shops and are all a meagre 12 miles away.
Waterworld, also in Stoke-on-Trent is the UK's largest indoor aqua park, ideal for that wet day!! (so don't forget to bring your swim wear).
For a quieter break the Peak National Park is also on our doorstep offering many walking and cycling trails along with numerous other beautiful and historic places to explore. We also edge on to the "Staffordshire Way" so for walkers we are an ideal location. The market towns of Leek, Cheadle, Uttoxeter, Ashbourne and Buxton are all within a 30-minute drive.

It gives you the added privacy of being in your own stone barn conversion nestling into the traditional farmstead beautifully and enjoying probably some of the best views in Staffordshire.
The cottages have been converted to the highest quality blending modern facilities with traditional olde worlde charm, utmost care and attention has been given towards restoring many of the architectural features of these 16th and 17th Century listed buildings.
Hermitage Farm Cottages are totally non-smoking however smoking is allowed outside of the properties and a wet weather smoking room is also available. Pets are not accepted in side the properties, anyone wishing to bring a pet is welcome however it should be kept in the car overnight, we do have a large area to excercise your pet (75 Acres actually). We have pets of our own comprising farm cats to control any vermin and keep your stay clean and safe, a dog called "Sam", he has his own cottage conversion in the farmyard, you will become very attatched to him and him to you.
Ample safe parking is provided in the car park area, bikes can also be stored and secured undercover in an nearby building to the cottages. A BBQ is available at no charge, but pleeeeeese give it a clean in the morning in case someone else would like to use it!.
A good selection of tourist information material is in the properties and in the main farmhouse and it is regularly updated. All prices include heating, electricity, gas, bed linen and towels, everything except your food, although being situated adjacent to the Farmhouse breakfast can be provided (at extra cost by prior arrangement).
