Description: Approached by a long gravelled driveway and surrounded by ancient trees, The Old Vicarage Country House Bed & Breakfast and Holiday Cottage, originally part of the Chatsworth Estate in 1842, is the most peaceful and idyllic location for a wonderful holiday. Set in over an acre of secluded gardens and nestled in the hills above the Dovedale and Manifold valleys in the heart of the Peak District National Park Derbyshire, we are the perfect location for exploring this beautiful area.
With mile upon mile of unspoilt countryside and with dozens of walks and cycle routes straight from the door you won’t be short of things to do. Many of our guests tell us we have created a wonderfully relaxed and warm atmosphere where you can truly make yourself at home, enjoy superb home cooking (including Nicky’s home baked breads), put your feet up, and really unwind in the peace and beauty of this magnificent countryside.
Whatever your interests, The Peak District National Park has something for everyone. Majestic hills, flower-filled valleys, rolling countryside, sparkling rivers, endless views to take your breath away and pretty stone villages hidden away from the stresses and strains of everyday life. We are ideally located for the Manifold, Tissington and High Peak trails as well as the Dovedale and Manifold valley walks. We are also within easy reach of the famous stately homes of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall as well as the bustling market towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and Buxton – not to mention (for the less fainthearted) the thrills of Alton Towers!
Only 2 minutes stroll from the house we have a great village pub, where Janet and Brian will be happy to serve you from a superb selection of real ales and where you can enjoy a hearty meal from a real country pub menu by a roaring fire. We hope that you enjoy our home and surrounding countryside as much as we do and if there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable, all you have to do is ask!
Soak up the warm relaxed atmosphere of this beautiful home with all its cosy charm which we have lovingly and carefully restored to a luxurious standard retaining many original features. Stroll around the landscaped gardens, sit out and relax with afternoon tea on the lawns (formerly the village tennis courts) and watch the wonderful bird life. For the more energetic you could always have a game of croquet! In those crisp clear winter months relax with a cup of tea by a roaring fire in our guest lounge overlooking the gardens. Simply unwind and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this perfect retreat in the pretty limestone village of Wetton. And don’t worry! For those who need to access the 'outside world' we also offer FREE WIFI.
All our rooms have wonderful views across the gardens to the lush rolling hills beyond. They are all beautifully decorated and furnished with great care and attention to detail to provide everything you need to enjoy your stay. Each room is provided with crisp fresh bedding, soft fluffy towels, TV with Teletext, hairdryer and a cosy teddy bear hot water bottle! We have 4 rooms sleeping a total of 8 people, 2 Double rooms, a King size room and a fantastic Super-king size room which can also convert to a twin. Two of our rooms have wonderful power showers - a welcome treat after a hard days walking or cycling! All our rooms and the house are non-smoking and (sorry) we do not take pets.
After a peaceful nights sleep, wake up to the aroma of Nicky’s freshly baked breads served with lots of yummy homemade organic jams and sit down to a hearty farmhouse breakfast freshly grilled to order using the finest ingredients, all served with fresh fruit salad, yoghurts, cereals and all the trimmings. Why not treat yourself to our luxury smoked salmon and scrambled egg made with local free range eggs and fresh cream? We also offer a range of other options including a full vegetarian breakfast and we cater for special dietary requirements.
Prices range from £32-£38 per person per night based on 2 people sharing for a 2 night stay. Throughout the year we have special offers and are happy to negotiate discounts for larger groups or longer stays. Prices include FREE WIFI, home made cakes and tea on arrival; tea and coffee at all times, fresh flowers in your room and our freshly grilled breakfast with all the trimmings.
