    What to expect on our walks and how to grade them.

    At Coreconcept we run many different grades varying from Wellbeing to Ultimate walks each week. To help you chose the right Nordic Walk for you we have listed them here. Once you have completed your Learn To Nordic Walk course you will also be guided by us and have a greater understanding of our gear system.

    However, so that you can choose the right Nordic walk for your ability we thought this useful guide would help and avoid any confusion.

    Each session is aimed at a specific gear and walk speed/pace:

    Using 90% of your muscles, works your upper and lower body at the same time, strengthening your back, legs and arms, and reducing neck and shoulder tension – all this while improving the health of your heart and lungs.

    This award-winning course will help you to not only learn Nordic walking technique but will help you to use it in order to achieve your personal health and fitness goals.
    Each session adds another ‘gear’ and helps you to understand how to gain propulsion, gradually increase the workload and learn how to Nordic walk for fitness, weight loss or fun! Four one hour sessions in a relaxed group suitable for all levels

    image002Well Being Walks – Gentle stroll and Easy walk – Gear 1 and 2

    A gentle safe way to walk yourself fitter! These walks include exercises that help with flexibility, balance and strength whilst using poles to improve general fitness and increase joint mobility. Suitable for those who want to build up to the longer or more vigorous walks or may have concerns about their health
    You mainly see the gentle stroll label during a Taster Session or for new starters for Wellbeing Sessions.
    Wellbeing Improvers Walk we will use more of Gear 2.

    image004Workout walks –  Moderate Walks – Gear 2 and 3

    These action packed one hour walks are designed to help you to improve your fitness levels and gain FAST results. Your instructor will add motivating drills and exercises into a fast-paced fun walk. Workout Walks using technique and with less recovery. 3mph+

    image006Bungypump Walks

    Where you see this logo, be ready to have some fun. The Bungypump has a unique built in resistance designed to make you push a little bit more during these sessions. Varying levels of resistance can be used, this is not just for regular walkers but many of our Wellbeing walkers use the poles too in regular sessions. A class with this logo is specifically for the use of the BungyPump pole.

    image005Ultimate Walks – Gears 1-4

    A Bootcamp on the go! Be prepared to push, pull, leap, run and skip! A circuit based extended class using the Bungypump poles, resistance bands, Smoveys and anything else that your Instructor deems appropriate for the session. Work your whole body in a fun group session which will test you to the limits! Not advised for the Wellbeing Walker.

    image003Adventure Walks – Gear 2

    Simply enjoy sociable Nordic walking in stunning locations with a mixed ability group. Lead by accredited instructors or leaders, these walks make the most of our beautiful country and are a relaxing way to enjoy being active outdoors.

    Variety is the spice of life and at Coreconcept we have qualified instructors who can offer a host of exercise solutions. The Instructor will add more information and details when they add the activity.

    These logos are added to the walks as a reminder. If you have any questions please do speak to Sam.

    · Please do not book onto the session if you are not able to maintain the pace or speak to Sam for guidance.

    · It is advisable to wear a bum bag/small backpack with a water bottle or bladder. You may wish to bring a small snack on longer Adventure Walks.

    · We respect people’s busy agendas and do like to start promptly. Please arrive at least 10 mins before the start.

    . For those who find themselves ahead on a Nordic walk that may not challenge them enough, we have introduced the “the recall and loop back” fun strategy. Although we have been using this for years now we have the addition of the whistle now. It helps maintain our sense of spirit walking together and addresses the different needs so we can all stay as a group especially on our Adventure Walks.
