Wet Weather Days Out

Pitter-patter raindrops are dashing against the windows, the grey skies are heavy with water and you are feeling bored and depressed. Perhaps you are stuck at home with the kids going stir-crazy; find yourself tucked away in a holiday home in the middle of a soggy and sombre looking Peak District, or maybe you face being ‘turfed out’ of your bed and breakfast for the day?

Cheer up! It might not be doom and gloom as the rotten weather forecast predicted. The Peak District can still be fun even for Wet Weather Days Out, it’s just that you have to find the sanctuary and shelter of an indoor activity or inside attraction – and there are loads to choose from!

For the culture conscious and those of us interested in history and heritage, why not take a peep inside a Stately Home or Museum for your Wet Weather Days Out. We also have indoor Heritage Sites and Workshops as well as Craft Centres and Potteries.

For toddlers and youngsters there are Play Mills and Pubs with Indoor Play areas, pottery painting and crafts for Wet Weather Days Out, whilst for older kids the Peak District offers caverns and mines (as long as they are not flooded!), various swimming pools and cinemas. Also, the thrills, spills and excitement of a bowling alley or ice skating rink are within only an hour’s drive.

Do not despair and get out there! Simply scroll through our long list of Wet Weather Days Out to brighten up your day!

The Blue John Cavern in the Peak District is a series of caverns considered to be the finest range in Great Britain.   Our Cavern Tours are of immense educational interest showing clearly how the caverns are formed in limestone strata and how the limestone itself had much earlier been formed by the deposits on the floors of great oceans which have long since receded, as the fossilised remains of marine animals now show.   The Cavern is well illuminated by electric...
