It was early winter but to me honest it felt like autumn with the unseasonal warm weather we had. Anyway I planned a trip to Stanage Edge to capture the mist in the valley but when I arrived at this location I felt that I would get better results at this other location. I have photographed here before but it was way back when I was at college in mid-2006, during the summer months. I found it then a great location as it required no walking to a great viewpoint. I just knew that this location had to be visited again but I didn’t realise that it would take over five years to go back. Upon arrival I was greeted to a valley full of low laying mist with petered off at the left hand side. Peering through the mist was a churches spire. This gave a great focal point to the image with the mist filling the valley to the right. The church in question is Hathersage church (I think). The sky wasn’t great as it was clear but it gave a orange pastel colour which eventually turned a vibrant yellow and orange. This then gave a lovely glow onto the mist. I have to say that this was one of my best sunrises for the results I got and for the fact I found a little gem which isn’t hard to find and have access to. Places like this are all over the Peak District. It’s out job as photographers to find them. Good luck in your effects.
