Tom Anthony Photography: Winters here!!
Winter finally arrives.
At last winter finally came and for me it was about time. One of the problems is when you wait and wait for the snow is driving about in to the location in which you are going to photograph. This come to light when I wanted to photograph on Higger Tor but my car was unable to get up the hill, even though it wasn’t very steep. I then went back the way I came and manage to park near Burbage edge and made the short walk to photograph this sun beaming onto Higger Tor. Here is one of the results:

I am very pleased with this results but I could see one photographer on Higger Tor in the location I wanted to be in and was a bit gutted but can’t win them all. I was just glad to get home after getting stuck twice. Glad I brought someone with me.
Along with the snow we’d been having there have been quite a few mornings where we have had bad frost on the grounds. On one morning I wanted to re visit one location to captures the frost on the ground and the trees in the field with a clear colourful sunrise. Luckily for me I was able to park next to the road and start clicking moments later on the frosted bank next to the road. I was very pleased with the results considering I didn’t have to go far to get this results from the car.

In the same morning I decided to head to below Mam Tor in the car park and capture the cement works with the sun beaming onto the mist in the valley. When I was heading down the road to the car park below Mam Tor the road was very slippery and I was very concerned about getting back up the road. Once I’d got to the location and quickly set-up and started shaping as I didn’t want to stick around.

Overall I’m pleased with weather this year as last year (2010/2011) I missed all the snow and frost due to a broken wrist. I would like some more snow but I’m not fussed. I hope you all enjoyed your winter photography and have got some great images.
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog and I hope this has given you food for thought for your autumn photography.
