Discover Tenkara at Upper House Hayfield

Discover Tenkara at Upper House Hayfield

Upper House offers immersive weekend introductions to Tenkara, the traditional form of Japanese mountain fly fishing. The UKs principal Tenkara guides, Paul Gaskell and John Pearson from Discover Tenkara will guide you through the philosophy, the equipment, the unique fly tying and the practical application of this successful and fascinating technique, in the mountain streams of Kinder in the Peak National Park. After a comprehensive introduction in the pub and Great Hall on the Friday (along with fantastic Upper House Supper in the Garret Room), Saturday will be spent in the tributaries and in the stunning Kinder Reservoir, learning the essential skills of Tenkara and using them in pursuit of our beautiful wild brown trout. You can catch up with non-fishing partners you may have persuaded to join you (easily done with our partner packages!) over candlelit dinner on Saturday night. Sunday will be spent in Paul and John's other waters in the nearby Pennines, to experience a wider variety of catch with different conditions. Partners may wish to walk over Kinder with one of our experienced guides, and will be back in time to meet you for a well deserved late Sunday lunch in the Great Hall.

Paul and John also offer one to one tuition in Tenkara for guests at Upper House. Traditional fly fishing is also available to guests. Please see our website for further details http://upperhousehayfield.com/event/discover-tenkara-the-ancient-art-of-mountain-stream-fly-fishing/
