People interested in learning valuable first aid skills are being invited to come along to Peak Village over the weekend of 18-19 February as Rowsley’s outlet Shopping Centre welcomes St John Ambulance - who will be recruiting interested shoppers for free two hour life support training sessions, as part of their Derbyshire Save a Life Scheme campaign.
Aimed at equipping as many people as possible with vital life saving knowledge, St John Ambulance have joined with the British Heart Foundation and East Midlands Ambulance Service to run the pioneering Derbyshire Save a Life Scheme. A charity clothing sale, supporting St John Ambulance, will also be taking place on this weekend.
Also joining in with the community spirit at Peak Village and supporting the cause will be some of the East Midlands Community First Responders (CFRs). Volunteer CFRs provide fast response to emergency calls by attending suitable 999 calls to administer vital life-saving care in their local community until the arrival of an emergency ambulance. For 18 and19 February, they will be on hand at Peak Village to give visitors first aid advice and provide regular CPR demonstrations. Community First Responders will also be available to speak with anyone interested in finding out more about the role of the CFRs and becoming a volunteer.
“Peak Village is known for saving visitors money but for the weekend of 18-19 February it’s all about saving lives, as well,” said Terrence Morgan of Peak Village. “The Derbyshire Save a Life scheme is a fantastic, pioneering programme and we’re lucky to have it in our area so here at Peak Village we are keen to offer our support. The aim of the two days is to provide information, guidance and the opportunity for further training for our shoppers, while also raising funds for vital life saving equipment locally.”
