 Castleton  is an ancient lead mining village with a strong sense of community. It is one of the most popular locations in the peak district, famous for its 4 show caverns and unique Blue John Stone. It sits snugly in the Hope Valley, guarded both by the shaly slopes of Man Tor and the square towered Norman Keep of Perveril Castle, which overlooks the village from a lofty limestone perch.

From the cottage walkers can easily access Kinder Scout and the Great Ridge, and the Pennine Way LDP starts just over the Ridge in Edale. Cyclists enjoy the challenge of the hills, while for families it is an easy drive to attractions such as Haddon Hall, Chatsworth and the towns of Buxton and Bakewell.
