Quality Traditional Service in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Parsons House is more akin to an Inn than a B&B. The upper floor is for the sole use of guests and the dining/sitting room is open to all. Every effort has been made to dispel the ‘tiptoeing around’ syndrome associated with bed & breakfast accommodation. All our foodstuffs are locally sourced and we will make every effort to cater for your individual requirements. We can provide packed lunches and copious trays of tea and coffee from dawn to dusk.
Alison and David bought Parsons House in 1999 and set about restoring the premises as near to the original period as possible; late Georgian Country (i.e. not posh).
The restoration was fraught with many setbacks, truck loads of salvaged plumbware married to modern day components and pipe fittings being one of them.
The kitchen with stone sink, charcoal stove and flagstone floors is as near to the original 18th Century ‘Down house’ (as it would have been known) that is practically possible.
One of the few concessions made regarding the refurbishments is the use of contemporary light fittings and pictures. Candle stick fittings would not be appropriate and the pictures contribute towards a relaxed and less austere atmosphere.
Our guests will find an exciting and interesting place to stay.
