Hollowford Centre | Peak District Outdoor Activity Residential Centre

The Hollowford Centre, open all year round, provides quality accommodation for groups on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Castleton, please note there are no self catering facilities however a full catered service can be provided.

With a wealth of countryside on your doorstep, the Hollowford Centre naturally provides an excellent base for outdoor programmes. Caves, crags, rivers, limestone dales and rugged gritstone moors are typical of the environment in which we work. Set in its own grounds, the Centre has stunning views of both Mam Tor and Peveril Castle.

At Hollowford we put our clients first which means we aim to be as flexible as possible. With a range of both on-site and off-site activities, classrooms and conference facilities, we are able to meet the requirements of any size and type of group.

The Centre
Hollowford Centre provides spacious, high quality facilities for groups of between 10 and 130 people. There are four accommodation blocks providing comfortable bedrooms that vary in size from 1 to 6 persons, with three of the blocks having en-suite facilities. There is a dedicated Quiet Room for prayer and reflection, a licensed bar and small tuck shop are available by prior arrangement.

There is a games room with table tennis, a pool table and table football and the lounge with TV, DVD and a karaoke machine. We have a number of conference/training rooms; with flip chart OHP and digital projection facilities available on request and the majority of the site has free wireless Internet access.

Catering
We provide a range of meal options to suite your group and all dietary needs are catered for. Our fresh food is all purchased locally and Fair Trade products are used wherever possible. Our kitchen provides wholesome, home cooked meals and we are confident that you will be pleased with what we offer. There is also a self-catering kitchen available for groups booking the Back Tor accommodation.

Disability
Whilst not a dedicated centre for less able people, our Back Tor accommodation, which was built in 2008, is fully accessible. On the ground floor we have two bedrooms that have been specifically designed for use by people with disabilities. With a bunk bed and a single bed in each room, one room has a wet room and shower whilst the other has a bathroom. Many of the activities can be adapted to be accessible for disabled people and our team of staff have a wealth of experience of working with people with a wide range of ability. We encourage inclusion and wherever possible people with disabilities work with their able bodied peers.

The grounds and surrounding countryside
On site we have high and low ropes courses, zip wire, adventure course and challenge activities, whilst our established wildlife and conservation area provides one of the most diverse habitats in the Hope Valley. There is also a roundhouse, archery, climbing wall, raft building and canoeing on site, and still plenty of space left to enjoy the freedom to run around. Stepping outside the Centre the hills beckon, and it is just a short drive to the climbing crags, caves and rivers to enjoy the countryside and experience adventure.

Programmes
Safety and quality come first. With an exceptionally good safety record, Hollowford follows all national governing body guidelines and holds an adventurous activities licence (AALA License).

Our programmes provide opportunities for individuals and teams to discover more about themselves, enabling reach their full potential. Our instructors carefully manage the learning process so that both individual and organisational needs are met.
Whatever the age or background of groups we carefully plan our courses with our clients in order to meet their aims and objectives.
