The Duke of Wellington

This beautiful 19th Century former ‘Drovers Inn’ and ‘working farm’ now finds itself a cosy, traditional country inn.

Built in 1866 the ‘Duke’ has all the character and charm of a traditional country inn, built in Derbyshire limestone with slate roofs, roaring log fires and extensive gardens, our pub is well worth a visit.

Our inn has recently been redecorated in a traditional country style that provides a warm and comfortable atmosphere for both drinkers and dinners alike.

The extensive floral gardens offer comfortable seating areas, as well as a fully enclosed heated patio area overlooking ‘Riber Castle and the Derwent Valley’.

We are situated in Matlock, Derbyshire – in the heart of the beautiful Peak District. We are the perfect base for you to explore this gorgeous part of England – whether you are enjoy walking or rock climbing we will make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Accommodation in The Stables

The old ‘heards mans’ cottage and ‘stable block’ have been painstakingly converted into nine en-suite rooms which offer our guests the very highest standards in comfort and privacy. These rooms are set away from the main building and ‘The Stables’ has its own flag stone courtyard and bespoke parking. All rooms come with T.V & Tea & Coffee making facilities.

All nine rooms have en-suite facilities.  Sorry no pets in the rooms.

 
Guests check out time is before 12 noon on day of departure and check in time is after 2pm on day of arrival.

Contract rates are available for regular business users.

Tariff is calculated per room and not per person.
