The Fountain Tea Rooms

After undergoing a lengthy but complete restoration, The Fountain has been transformed into fantastic Tea Rooms and Bed & Breakfast in the heart of the beautiful village of Bonsall.

The traditional tea room downstairs has a sun trap patio that makes the most of any fine weather and two beautiful en suite bed and breakfast rooms upstairs.

Opening Times
8.30 am to 5.30 pm every day in summer, winter opening times 8.30 am till 4 pm.

Offering a wide selection of hot and cold beverages, soups, sandwiches and snacks as well as breakfast, home baked cakes and afternoon teas, we hope to have something for everyone. And Bradwells Ice Cream! Keep an eye on the blackboard for Specials!

Anne (the owner) is well known for her ‘retro cakes’, visitors come from all around to experience her homemade mouth watering chocolate dandelion and burdock cake and banana and chocolate chip retro cakes….….or try Elderflower and Ginger for a change!

There is free WiFi available throughout the Team Rooms – just ask us for access details.

Well behaved dogs are welcome in the Tea Rooms and on our lovely sun trap patio area.

Bed and Breakfast Accommodation

Our double room with king size bed and our twin room are both en suite, with flat screen TV, chunky wooden furniture and are beautifully decorated.  The bathrooms both have separate shower and bath, underfloor heating and heated towel rail and are fully tiled. Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate dogs in our B&B however they are more than welcome in our Holiday Let

Holiday Apartment

The old pub function room has been transformed into a high specification holiday apartment with one double (king size) room and one twin room, open plan living/dining/kitchen area and fully tiled bathroom with separate shower cubicle and bath, underfloor heating and heated towel rail.   Each room has a flat screen TV and Wi-fi is available throughout.

History of the Fountain

Originally known as the New Inn, it was one of nine pubs in the village when lead mining was the main occupation.  Ale was believed to protect the miners from lead poisoning and considered safer to drink than water from the springs which were often polluted. The earliest recorded publican was Daniel Bower in the 1840’s.  The building was renamed ‘The Fountain’ after the monument that stands in front of it.

Bonsall

Bonsall is a lovely and very active village on the edge of the stunning Peak District, a historic former lead mining village set in steeply converging limestone dales. Found in the hills south east of Matlock, Bonsall has a charming atmosphere and is popular with lovers of the outdoors – a walker’s paradise! The Limestone Way runs through the village, stop off for a brew! Surrounded by lovely countryside, lead mining caverns and caves, and even a defunct volcano, Bonsall is full of interest. Many miners tracks as well as packhorse tracks criss-cross the Bonsall countryside.

The Old Chapel, Birchover.

The Old Chapel, retaining many interesting features, provides two very comfortable and interesting cottages for you to enjoy.  Each cottage sleeps 6 and can be booked together to sleep 12 people. Dogs are very welcome in our Holiday Let

Located in the heart of the popular Peak District village of Birchover, this is an ideal and central base for visiting many of the attractions of the area, with the country houses of Chatsworth and Haddon on the doorstep, and the popular towns of Bakewell and Matlock being a similar short distance.

Excellent walks exist from the village along with good local amenities.
