The George is featured in the 2017 Good Food Guide and also awarded The Cask Marque for real Ale.
Built in 1543 first licenced in 1743 The George Hotel is situated within the historic area of Castleton. A ghost, allegedly that of a young servant is reputed to haunt the inn along with many other apparitions. Today you will find a warm welcome from Richard and Ann the landlords who will be pleased to share with you their extensive local knowledge.
The pub itself has a traditional feel with stone floors, oak beams and decorative brass in keeping with its historical ties.
A wide selection of home-made food is available and home-made pies including steak and ale, chicken and mushroom and vegetarian options. There is also a children’s menu and children are most welcome.
Why not sample our traditional hand-pulled cask ales or a selection of our single malt whiskys!
After all this fantastic food and drink you can book a room at the Bed and Breakfast. Choose from the four double en-suites available prices on request. The next morning you will enjoy an enormous full English breakfast. At the George we pride ourselves on the inviting rooms which we have offer our guests. All our rooms are tastefully decorated in keeping with the traditional feel of the George and the surrounding area. All our rooms come with en-suite facilities which are finished to the highest standards. The large double beds within the rooms are always carefully and lovingly made, so you can sleep soundly after enjoying your visit to Castleton.
We recommend that you telephone to check availability as we are very popular with tourists for a great part of the year. However, we shall endeavour to accommodate your booking, so that you can become part of the “George Experience”.This is the perfect place to stay for walking, touring, cycling, caving in fact anything you may want to do including relaxing!
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PUB IS PET FRIENDLY BUT THE ACCOMMODATION IS NOT.
