The Hodgkinsons Hotel

Zoe & Chris Hipwell would like to offer you a warm welcome to Hodgkinson’s Hotel. We take great pride in creating an atmosphere where our guests feel at home. Our aim is to combine the best traditions of hospitality, gained from our long and varied background travelling around the world, with something we believe to be a unique setting, making your stay an experience not just a visit.

Our historic grade II listed hotel dates from 1770 when it was originally part of the larger New Inn built during the height of the Georgian spa era. Subsequently bought by wine merchant Job Hodgkinson in the 1830’s, the large oval sign outside still bears his name and much of the ground floor interior remains intact from this time. Great care has been taken to restore the remainder of the building to its former Victorian splendour whilst satisfying the needs of the discerning traveller.

Rooms and Services

Browse our individually designed and furnished rooms by clicking on the room name to see detailed images. Rooms are arranged by floor with Callow (kingsize double) & Bretby (classic double) on the first floor. The second floor has Calke (standard double), Eyam & Haddon (classic doubles) and the top floor has our superior doubles Riber & Mayfield as well  our only single Peveril.

All rooms have en-suite shower rooms, (except Riber which has a freestanding bath tub) TV, phone, free wi-fi, beverage making facilities, mineral water on arrival and goose down duvets with cotton bed linen.

 Due to demand during peak times, we have a minimum 2 night stay over Saturday nights. However, you are welcome to enquire about Saturday night stays as this is often possible at short notice or if the accommodation has been sold on the Friday or Sunday.

We have several rooms that are dog-friendly and are happy to welcome pets with advance notice (£10 per night supplement). Please check a pet friendly room is available. In consideration of other guests and to meet all health and hygiene regulations, pets are not permitted in the restaurant or bar area.

At The Hodgkinson’s Hotel we strive to offer the best food in the Derwent Valley. We make sure that all the produce is fresh and prepared to the highest standard.

 Our reputation is based upon the modern interpretation of traditional dishes, concentrating upon the superb local ingredients.

Our varied seasonal menu and full bar make the Hodgkinson’s the perfect place for the evening whatever the ocassion.The restaurant can offer early suppers for residents with young children from 5 30 to 6 30 by prior arrangement .
