The White Horse & The View

The White Horse Inn nestles in the beautiful little hamlet of Woolley Moor on the outskirts of Ashover, on the eastern boundary of the Peak District National Park.

As you would expect from a Derbyshire country inn, we offer stunning scenery and a warm, friendly atmosphere.  We also pride ourselves on our great food and, of course, a well-stocked bar.

Unlike other country pubs throughout the Peak District, however, we also offer modern, luxury accommodation at a standard you would normally expect from a 5-Star hotel.  Our five bedroom suites are situated in a separate building – very aptly named The View – and all provide superior comfort with the finest furnishings, as well as en-suite facilities.  Best of all, each suite also has its own secluded balcony for breathtaking views over the lush green valley.

Our suites

Our five bedroom suites at The White Horse & The View at Woolley Moor are furnished to the highest standard with Super King Size, King Size and Twin Hypnos beds – acclaimed as the world’s most comfortable – in all our rooms.  Our rooms are all fully en-suite. 

Each suite is bright and airy and allows the best views of our wonderful scenery, with wall-wide windows that open on to private patio seating areas.  Our patios give you a great space in which to relax and unwind, to enjoy breakfast or an evening drink, watching the sun set over the rolling hills.

We have accessible rooms available for the disabled and less mobile, and we pride ourselves on catering for all needs and requirements. 

Unfortunately we are unable to allow dogs at The White Horse & The View at Woolley Moor.

Our food

Here at the White Horse & The View at Woolley Moor, we don’t make a song and dance about our menus; we believe that the food should speak for itself.  We have a great chef in Craig Peters, who creates mouthwatering dishes using the finest and freshest local produce.  We use seasonal fruit and vegetables, locally-reared meat and locally-sourced dairy products wherever possible. 

In addition to our usual menus, we offer a specials board that changes on a regular basis and offers an additional selection of starters, main courses and desserts.

Our location

The White Horse & The View at Woolley Moor is situated on the eastern boundary of the Peak District National Park.  It is ideally located for you to explore this fabulous part of the country. 

The historic market town of Bakewell is a short drive away, as are the country estates of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. 

Only slightly further afield you will find the wonderful village of Castleton, famed for its show caves and ancient castle.  Or the fascinating towns of Matlock and Matlock Bath with their riverside walks and cable car rides over the Derwent Valley. And straight out of the door are wonderful walks throughout this spectacular countryside. The picturesque Ogston Reservoir is only a short walk away.
