Barn Accommodation In Hartington

Once the site of a thriving cheese-making industry and one of the few places in England where Stilton was permitted to be made, Hartington is a bustling village with plenty of charm and lots of fine historic buildings. Although the famous blue cheese is no longer manufactured in the village there is still a shop selling local cheeses as well as several other stores and a number of pubs where you can enjoy some good food.  Hartington Barn Accommodation is a great way to explore both the Peak District countryside and the local towns. Midway between the fine towns of Ashbourne and Buxton, both of which boast lovely Georgian architecture, Hartington is in the south of the Peak District and close to the iconic Dove Dale with its famous stepping stones.  The former Hartington railway station, about a mile and half from the village itself, is now a picnic area with toilet facilities and an information centre housed in the former signal box, which was retained after the National Park Authority bought the Ashbourne to Buxton railway in 1968. The track itself was converted into what is known as the Tissington Trail, is popular with horse riders, walkers and cyclists.  Hartington is also a good starting point for walking along Beresford Dale, a beautiful place with its curiously formed cliffs and rocks. There are also several caves, which are popular with caving enthusiasts.  Check out the Hartington Barn Accommodation on offer here.
