Whalley Bridge is an attractive small town on the edge of the Peak District and known as the Gateway to the Goyt Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty and a magnet for hikers, walkers and lovers of the outdoors. Only seven miles from Buxton, the town stands at the end of the Peak Forest Canal, which cuts through the narrow valley parallel to main road and railway and many visitors to Whalley Bridge come by water, and there is a thriving barge-restaurant base at the canal head. Barn accommodation in Whalley Bridge is a great way to explore this lovely area.
