Cressbrook Chapel And Dove Holes In Dovedale

Cressbrook Chapel

Situated behind Cressbrook Mill, on the path beside the River Wye in Water-cum-Jolly Dale, is this church like structure, thought to have been where the child mill-workers who lived in Apprentice Row, were given religious teaching. The children at Cressbrook generally fared better than those from a mile upstream at Litton Mill. The building has been restored and is used as a cafe in season.

Dove Holes in Dovedale

Travelling up the beautiful Dovedale Gorge from the Stepping Stones end, Dove Holes is the last of the many show pieces offered by the gorge. The 2 caves are large and shallow, the larger of the 2 being some 60ft wide and 30ft high.
